Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation’s High School  program is proud to acknowledge the accomplishments of  outstanding seniors attending SASF after school programs at Dewitt Clinton High School and Park Slope Collegiate, who will be receiving four-year, full-time scholarships from the New York Times College Scholarship Program and The Posse Foundation, respectively.

Mohamed Mohamed

DeWitt Clinton High School, Bronx

Mohamed Mohamed (DeWitt Clinton High School, Bronx), is one of only eight high school seniors city-wide to receive an award from The New Times College Scholarship Program. This prestigious four-year scholarship will provide Mohamed significant financial assistance to attend any nationally accredited four-year institution to which he has been admitted for full-time study. He will also receive a summer internship at the New York Times, educational and job counseling, mentoring, cultural experiences, and a laptop. SASF’s High School program has worked with Mohamed for two years, offering him Advanced Placement level tutoring, college application and financial aid guidance, as well as help with his college essays. Mohamed is the Valedictorian of his 2014 class.

Fatoumata Sow

DeWitt Clinton High School, Bronx

Fatoumata Sow, who attended DeWitt Clinton HS, as well as Jordan James and De’Sean Phillip, who attend Park Slope Collegiate, have been awarded 4-year, full-time scholarships from The Posse Foundation to attend Posse’s partner institutions of higher education. These highly competitive awards are four-year, full-tuition scholarships, offered to deserving public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential. Students are placed in multicultural teams that provide a significant amount of support on campus. This support helps teach them life-skills that will benefit them well beyond their college years. SASF’s HSTCT program has worked with these students for multiple years, providing crucial college readiness activities, Advanced Placement and Regents tutoring, financial aid and character education workshops.
