Volunteer with SASF

With over 120 after school and summer programs that service more than 20,000 NYC and Mt. Vernon students, SASF values the importance of volunteers to help us provide access to opportunity for these young people. The more caring adults and role models students encounter the more opportunity they have to learn and grow.  The experience of volunteering will be as meaningful to you as it will be more our students!

We have a lot of opportunities for those that want to volunteer! Below are some of the ways, but we would be happy to work with you to customize a volunteer opportunity that would best suit your schedule and interests. Complete the volunteer inquiry form below and someone from our team will be in touch.

NYC Service, a division of the Office of the Mayor is bringing a unique opportunity to volunteer with Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation (SASF), one of the largest providers of school/after-school/summer programs in NYC that are helping to bridge the academic performance gap in under-achieving students (K-12) with skill building activities that improve attitudes towards school, self-confidence, character & values, academic performance and employment opportunities.

These exclusive volunteer projects cannot happen without YOU!!!

Opportunities with students

Speakers Bureau:

Engage and energize students to understand the importance of being prepared for college and their future careers by sharing your own experiences. These sessions are about an hour and take place in a small group setting of 15-20 students to promote meaningful discussion. We encourage making these visits as creative and interactive as possible.

Workplace Field Trips:

Host a small group of students at your office, letting them hear from employees and what a real place of business. These opportunities allow our students to gain important insight into the professional world and to learn about life “outside the classroom.”

Special Events:

Throughout the year we have many events, like MLK Day of Service, Fitness Days, our Spring Arts Showcase, summer track & field day and many more where students from SASF after-school programs all throughout NYC come together for a common purpose. There are lots of ways we use volunteers for these types of events, from helping with set-up and cleanup to leading activities and workshops to serving as a cheerleader for the kids. These events often take place during school holidays, Saturdays or evenings. If you are interested we can include you on our list to let you know as these opportunities become available on our site.
